The Pro Vice Chancellor serves as a senior leadership role supporting the Vice Chancellor in academic and administrative functions. This position plays a critical role in strategic planning, institutional development, and ensuring operational excellence across academic and administrative domains.
As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Pro Vice Chancellor works closely with the Vice Chancellor to implement institutional vision, manage academic programs, oversee administrative operations, and represent the institution in various capacities. This role requires a balance of academic credibility and administrative acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive leadership support across strategic planning, academic administration, and institutional operations
Strategic Support
Support the Vice Chancellor in strategic planning, institutional development, and policy execution.
Academic Performance
Oversee academic programs, curriculum development, and ensure educational quality across the institution.
Faculty Affairs
Manage faculty affairs, recruitment, professional development, and performance management.
Research Initiatives
Oversee research initiatives, secure research funding, and drive research excellence.
Accreditation & Quality
Lead accreditation processes, quality assurance initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Administrative Operations
Manage administrative operations, institutional processes, and ensure operational excellence.
External Representation
Represent the institution at academic and professional forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings.
Stakeholder Management
Manage stakeholder relationships, external partnerships, and coordinate with regulatory bodies.
Special Projects
Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
Governance Support
Support institutional governance, board activities, and ensure effective decision-making processes.
Eligibility & Experience
Academic Credentials
Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from recognized institution, established academic reputation with significant scholarly contributions, Professor-level academic standing preferred, strong publication record and research credentials.
Leadership Experience
Minimum 12-15 years of progressive leadership in higher education, prior experience as Dean, Director, or equivalent senior academic role, demonstrated success in academic administration and strategic planning, experience managing large teams and complex operations.
Governance & Regulatory
Deep understanding of UGC, AICTE, and other regulatory frameworks, experience with accreditation processes (NAAC, NBA, international bodies), knowledge of academic governance and institutional policies, familiarity with board dynamics and stakeholder management.
